A men's jacquard tie in twenty dot, square and stripe designs: a smart everyday office tie and an easy gift for him.
Each is woven in polyester with a jacquard pattern, so the dots, squares and stripes are part of the cloth rather than printed on, which gives the surface a subtle texture and depth. The tie is cut to a classic width of around 7 cm, broad enough to balance a standard lapel and a full knot.
The range covers the colours a man actually wears to the office: reds and burgundies, navy and royal blue, sky blue and pale blue, charcoal, grey and black, in small dot, pin dot, textured square and diagonal stripe designs. Each design is shown in the photographs, so the colour and texture can be judged before choosing, and the darker grounds suit the widest range of suits.
Worn with a white or pale blue shirt and a navy or grey suit, any of these will look correct from Monday to Friday, and the stronger reds and blues are well suited to interviews, presentations and weddings. They make a practical gift for a son starting his first job, and choosing two or three in different designs is a simple way to refresh a tie drawer for the year ahead.
Once knotted, the tip should just touch the top of your belt buckle. Taller men, or anyone who prefers a larger knot such as a Windsor, will use more of the length.
Match the blade width to your lapels: slimmer ties with narrow lapels, broader ties with classic tailoring. Knitted ties sit best in a simple four-in-hand knot.
Untie by reversing the knot rather than pulling the narrow end through, then hang the tie or roll it loosely so creases fall out overnight.
Spot clean or dry clean; never machine wash. Knitted ties are best rolled rather than hung, so they keep their length.

Our pieces, out in the real world.
In 1924, our grandfather, Albert Whitley, opened a small outfitter’s shop in Yorkshire. Our father, Henry, carried it forward. Today, we continue the family business with the same belief: good materials, useful things and pieces made to be worn for years.
The counter may now be a website, but the standard remains much the same. Old craft. Modern wear.
It is best not to. Braces do the belt’s job and look tidiest on their own; wearing both adds bulk at the waist. Hook braces clip onto the belt loops themselves, so leave the belt off.
Yes. Braces, bow ties and ties in matching colours make simple groomsmen sets. If you need several identical pieces, write to us before ordering and we will confirm availability.
Ties: once knotted, the tip should just touch your belt buckle; match the blade width to your lapels. Bow ties: most are pre-tied on an adjustable strap that fits most collars. Braces: clip-on styles grip the waistband of any trousers, while hook styles clip onto your belt loops, which suits jeans, chinos and cords. Dimensions are listed under Technical details.
Untie a tie by reversing the knot, then hang it or roll it loosely; knitted ties are best rolled. Store bow ties flat. Coil braces loosely rather than hanging them, so the elastic keeps its spring.
