A men's novelty tie in twelve motif designs: a playful tie for Christmas parties, the office and a lighthearted gift.
This collection of twelve woven designs takes the traditional small-motif tie and fills it with pattern of a more personal kind: aeroplanes and running hares, dogs, lions and birds, florals in gold and blue, and crisp geometric lattices. Set on grounds of navy, wine red, bottle green and charcoal, the motifs are small enough to read as a neat repeat from across the room and reveal their character only up close.
Each tie is woven in 100% polyester and cut to a full classic width of about 8 cm, tapering to around 3.5 cm at the narrow end, with an overall length of approximately 148 cm. That generous size suits taller men and allows a full knot. The darker grounds make them easy to wear with a navy or grey suit and a plain white or pale blue shirt, so the motif does the talking.
They make a thoughtful gift for a man with a particular interest, whether a pilot, a dog owner or a keen gardener, and an amusing touch for a groomsman or best man at a relaxed wedding. Each design is shown in the photographs; as the options are listed by design letter, use the gallery to choose the pattern that suits him best.
Once knotted, the tip should just touch the top of your belt buckle. Taller men, or anyone who prefers a larger knot such as a Windsor, will use more of the length.
Match the blade width to your lapels: slimmer ties with narrow lapels, broader ties with classic tailoring. Knitted ties sit best in a simple four-in-hand knot.
Untie by reversing the knot rather than pulling the narrow end through, then hang the tie or roll it loosely so creases fall out overnight.
Spot clean or dry clean; never machine wash. Knitted ties are best rolled rather than hung, so they keep their length.

Our pieces, out in the real world.
In 1924, our grandfather, Albert Whitley, opened a small outfitter’s shop in Yorkshire. Our father, Henry, carried it forward. Today, we continue the family business with the same belief: good materials, useful things and pieces made to be worn for years.
The counter may now be a website, but the standard remains much the same. Old craft. Modern wear.
It is best not to. Braces do the belt’s job and look tidiest on their own; wearing both adds bulk at the waist. Hook braces clip onto the belt loops themselves, so leave the belt off.
Yes. Braces, bow ties and ties in matching colours make simple groomsmen sets. If you need several identical pieces, write to us before ordering and we will confirm availability.
Ties: once knotted, the tip should just touch your belt buckle; match the blade width to your lapels. Bow ties: most are pre-tied on an adjustable strap that fits most collars. Braces: clip-on styles grip the waistband of any trousers, while hook styles clip onto your belt loops, which suits jeans, chinos and cords. Dimensions are listed under Technical details.
Untie a tie by reversing the knot, then hang it or roll it loosely; knitted ties are best rolled. Store bow ties flat. Coil braces loosely rather than hanging them, so the elastic keeps its spring.
