A canvas rucksack for men who want a rugged, ready-for-anything bag, whether that means the morning commute, a weekend walk in the hills or an unplanned road trip. Its vintage shape and heavy canvas body give it real presence.
The heavy canvas has a waxed look, and leather trim on the straps and buckles adds a worked-in character. A flap closes over the top with brass buckles, giving the bag its heritage face. The main compartment holds roughly 20 liters, enough for clothing, books or gear with room to spare. Front and side pockets keep keys, a phone or a water bottle within easy reach, so nothing gets buried at the bottom. Padded, adjustable shoulder straps and a curved back panel spread the weight, so it stays comfortable whether packed light or full. A sturdy top handle makes it easy to grab for a quick errand or the short walk between classes or meetings.
Pack a sweater, a book, a flask and lunch for a day out, or a laptop-free working day's things. The look pairs naturally with denim, boots and a casual jacket, and it works as well on a train platform as on a footpath or a station bench.
Dimensions, compartments and laptop size for this bag are listed under Technical details.
When checking laptop fit, go by your laptop’s actual measurements as well as its screen size. If you want us to confirm something fits before you order, write to us.
Canvas & nylon: brush off dry dirt, then spot clean with a damp cloth and a little mild soap. Do not machine wash or tumble dry, and let it air dry away from direct heat. Waxed canvas can be refreshed with fabric wax when the finish starts to fade; any leather trim is cared for like the leather below.
Leather: wipe with a soft, dry cloth. Once or twice a year, work in a little neutral leather cream, testing it first on a hidden spot. If it gets wet, blot it and let it dry naturally, away from radiators and direct sun. Full-grain leather darkens and softens with use; that patina is part of its character.
Empty the bag and stuff it lightly with paper when storing it, and keep it in a breathable dust bag rather than plastic.

Our pieces, out in the real world.
In 1924, our grandfather, Albert Whitley, opened a small outfitter’s shop in Yorkshire. Our father, Henry, carried it forward. Today, we continue the family business with the same belief: good materials, useful things and pieces made to be worn for years.
The counter may now be a website, but the standard remains much the same. Old craft. Modern wear.
Each piece names its exact material under Technical details, whether full-grain, top-grain or split leather, vegan leather or metal. If a piece is not listed as leather, it is not leather.
Pieces with a tracker slot say so under Technical details. The tracker itself is not included.
Dimensions, card capacity and laptop size are listed under Technical details for every piece. Belts are sized by full strap length: choose about 2 in (5 cm) above your trouser waist size. If you want us to confirm a fit before ordering, write to us.
Wipe it with a soft, dry cloth, condition it once or twice a year with a neutral leather cream, and let it dry naturally if it gets wet. Full-grain leather darkens and softens with use; that patina is part of its character.
