A waxed canvas backpack with a weather-ready shell and a clean vintage outline that works from the train platform to the trailhead. The waxed finish sheds light rain and everyday wear, and it looks better the more you use it. The main compartment is roomy enough for a change of clothes, a water bottle and the small things that pile up between home and the office.
A drawstring top cinches the main compartment shut, and the flap folds down over it, held by two adjustable buckle straps. It opens one-handed at a coffee shop counter and closes again just as quickly. Front pockets keep a phone, keys and a travel pass within reach. Inside, a padded sleeve fits a laptop up to 15 inches, backed by an interior zip pocket and a phone slot to keep small items sorted. The padded shoulder straps are shaped to sit comfortably on a walk to class or a longer commute, and the canvas body keeps the bag light on your back.
Waxed canvas resists light rain and everyday moisture, and the backpack comes with a rain cover for the days the forecast does not cooperate. Wear it with a waxed jacket and boots, or with a crewneck and chinos.

Canvas & nylon: brush off dry dirt, then spot clean with a damp cloth and a little mild soap. Do not machine wash or tumble dry, and let it air dry away from direct heat. Waxed canvas can be refreshed with fabric wax when the finish starts to fade; any leather trim is cared for like the leather below.
Leather: wipe with a soft, dry cloth. Once or twice a year, work in a little neutral leather cream, testing it first on a hidden spot. If it gets wet, blot it and let it dry naturally, away from radiators and direct sun. Full-grain leather darkens and softens with use; that patina is part of its character.
Empty the bag and stuff it lightly with paper when storing it, and keep it in a breathable dust bag rather than plastic.
Shipping. Free, tracked, to the United Kingdom and the United States. Orders are dispatched within 2–3 business days; delivery takes 6–12 business days to the UK and 8–15 to the US. Duties and import taxes are included in the price — nothing to pay on delivery.
Returns. 30 days from delivery, on any item that is unworn and unused, with tags, in its original packaging. Email support@oldtradinghouse.com with your order number to start one. Refunds go back to your original payment method within 10 business days of approval.

In 1924, our grandfather, Albert Whitley, opened a small outfitter’s shop in Yorkshire. Our father, Henry, carried it forward. Today, we continue the family business with the same belief: good materials, useful things and pieces made to be worn for years.
The counter may now be a website, but the standard remains much the same. Old craft. Modern wear.
Each piece names its exact material under Technical details, whether full-grain, top-grain or split leather, vegan leather or metal. If a piece is not listed as leather, it is not leather.
