A men's all-black genuine leather ratchet belt with a matte click buckle: a sleek, understated belt for suits and jeans.
The genuine leather strap has a smooth surface with neat stitched edges, and it is paired with a matte black buckle whose flat, unadorned face absorbs light rather than reflecting it. The effect is tonal and modern, with nothing to distract from a well-cut suit or a sharp jacket.
The buckle uses an automatic click mechanism. A notched track runs along the back of the strap, so the belt can be adjusted in small increments for a fit that stays comfortable from the morning meeting to the evening train, and it releases easily via the buckle. It comes in black only, offered in lengths of 43, 45, 47, 49 and 51 inches to suit a range of waist sizes.
It is especially effective with black or midnight tailoring, dark denim and black knitwear, where a shiny buckle would break the line. Anyone who dresses largely in dark colours will appreciate it, as will the man who simply wants one belt that never draws comment. It makes a dependable gift, and pairs naturally with a dark wool flat cap and a black overcoat in winter.
The length shown is the full length of the strap. The simplest rule is to choose about 2 in (5 cm) above your usual trouser waist size.
For a closer match, lay a belt you already wear flat and measure from where the leather folds at the buckle to the hole you use most, then choose the nearest length. Ratchet and automatic belts have no holes and adjust in small steps.
Leather: wipe with a soft, dry cloth. Once or twice a year, work in a little neutral leather cream, testing it first on a hidden spot. If it gets wet, blot it and let it dry naturally, away from radiators and direct sun. Full-grain leather darkens and softens with use; that patina is part of its character.
Rest a belt between wears where you can, and store it hung by the buckle or loosely rolled.

Our pieces, out in the real world.
In 1924, our grandfather, Albert Whitley, opened a small outfitter’s shop in Yorkshire. Our father, Henry, carried it forward. Today, we continue the family business with the same belief: good materials, useful things and pieces made to be worn for years.
The counter may now be a website, but the standard remains much the same. Old craft. Modern wear.
Each piece names its exact material under Technical details, whether full-grain, top-grain or split leather, vegan leather or metal. If a piece is not listed as leather, it is not leather.
Pieces with a tracker slot say so under Technical details. The tracker itself is not included.
Dimensions, card capacity and laptop size are listed under Technical details for every piece. Belts are sized by full strap length: choose about 2 in (5 cm) above your trouser waist size. If you want us to confirm a fit before ordering, write to us.
Wipe it with a soft, dry cloth, condition it once or twice a year with a neutral leather cream, and let it dry naturally if it gets wet. Full-grain leather darkens and softens with use; that patina is part of its character.
