A canvas messenger bag that trades the usual flat, boxy shape for a rounded barrel body. It sits close and stays out of the way, riding at your hip on the train or hanging from a chair in a coffee shop. It is not built to carry everything, only what you need, organized well enough that you are not hunting for your keys at the front door.
The heavyweight cotton canvas is soft from the first wear and improves with time. The flap closes over two buckle straps for a look closer to the workshop than the office. Under the flap, a zip main compartment keeps a wallet, keys, a paperback or a light jacket secure and easy to reach with one hand. A front slip pocket sits where your hand lands first, for a phone, a transit card or sunglasses. Inside, a polyester lining adds everyday durability against the small scrapes of a normal week.
The adjustable shoulder strap lets you wear it across the body or over one shoulder, so the length can change with the outfit: a T-shirt and jeans one day, a light jacket the next. The barrel keeps its structure without feeling stiff, half full or packed. It comes in olive, dark gray and khaki.

Canvas & nylon: brush off dry dirt, then spot clean with a damp cloth and a little mild soap. Do not machine wash or tumble dry, and let it air dry away from direct heat. Waxed canvas can be refreshed with fabric wax when the finish starts to fade; any leather trim is cared for like the leather below.
Leather: wipe with a soft, dry cloth. Once or twice a year, work in a little neutral leather cream, testing it first on a hidden spot. If it gets wet, blot it and let it dry naturally, away from radiators and direct sun. Full-grain leather darkens and softens with use; that patina is part of its character.
Empty the bag and stuff it lightly with paper when storing it, and keep it in a breathable dust bag rather than plastic.
Shipping. Free, tracked, to the United Kingdom and the United States. Orders are dispatched within 2–3 business days; delivery takes 6–12 business days to the UK and 8–15 to the US. Duties and import taxes are included in the price — nothing to pay on delivery.
Returns. 30 days from delivery, on any item that is unworn and unused, with tags, in its original packaging. Email support@oldtradinghouse.com with your order number to start one. Refunds go back to your original payment method within 10 business days of approval.

In 1924, our grandfather, Albert Whitley, opened a small outfitter’s shop in Yorkshire. Our father, Henry, carried it forward. Today, we continue the family business with the same belief: good materials, useful things and pieces made to be worn for years.
The counter may now be a website, but the standard remains much the same. Old craft. Modern wear.
Each piece names its exact material under Technical details, whether full-grain, top-grain or split leather, vegan leather or metal. If a piece is not listed as leather, it is not leather.

Dimensions, card capacity and laptop size are listed under Technical details for every piece. Belts are sized by full strap length: choose about 2 in (5 cm) above your trouser waist size. If you want us to confirm a fit before ordering, write to us.
