It is made from full-grain leather with a smooth finish, and the absence of fuss is the point. It looks just as right with a wax jacket at the weekend as it does with an overcoat on a weekday.
Beneath the flap, the roomy interior includes a dedicated compartment for a laptop up to 15 inches, leaving space for documents, a jumper and the day's gear. Two zipped pockets on the front keep a phone, keys and travel card separate and easy to reach without opening the main compartment. Full-grain leather develops a richer patina with use, so each bag gradually takes on the marks of its owner's routine.
Adjustable padded shoulder straps, backed with mesh, make it comfortable to wear on longer walks, while a top handle allows it to be picked up and carried in one hand. Leather: wipe with a soft, dry cloth. Once or twice a year, work in a little neutral leather cream, testing it first on a hidden spot. If it gets wet, blot it and let it dry naturally, away from radiators and direct sun. Full-grain leather darkens and softens with use; that patina is part of its character.
Empty the bag and stuff it lightly with paper when storing it, and keep it in a breathable dust bag rather than plastic.
Shipping. Free, tracked, to the United Kingdom and the United States. Orders are dispatched within 2–3 business days; delivery takes 6–12 business days to the UK and 8–15 to the US. Duties and import taxes are included in the price — nothing to pay on delivery.
Returns. 30 days from delivery, on any item that is unworn and unused, with tags, in its original packaging. Email support@oldtradinghouse.com with your order number to start one. Refunds go back to your original payment method within 10 business days of approval.

In 1924, our grandfather, Albert Whitley, opened a small outfitter’s shop in Yorkshire. Our father, Henry, carried it forward. Today, we continue the family business with the same belief: good materials, useful things and pieces made to be worn for years.

Each piece names its exact material under Technical details, whether full-grain, top-grain or split leather, vegan leather or metal. If a piece is not listed as leather, it is not leather.
