A slim men's genuine leather ratchet belt with a polished silver buckle: one self-adjustable length, up to 51 inches.
The strap is genuine leather, 3.2cm wide, with a smooth finish, fine edge stitching and a contrasting tan reverse that shows as it curves. The buckle is a bright, open-frame design in polished metal alloy, with clean lines and no unnecessary ornament.
It fastens automatically. Rather than holes, a track on the inside of the strap lets the buckle lock at small intervals, so the fit can be adjusted precisely and comfortably throughout the day. The belt comes in a single 51-inch length that is self-adjustable to suit your waist, which also makes it an easy gift when you are not entirely sure of the size. Choose black or a warm mid brown.
The black is a natural partner for navy and charcoal suiting, while the brown looks particularly good with light grey, stone and blue. It is smart enough for the office and relaxed enough for a weekend lunch, with a clean, minimal look that never dates. Pair it with an Oxford shirt and loafers in summer, or with a fine-knit jumper and a classic flat cap when the weather cools.
The length shown is the full length of the strap. The simplest rule is to choose about 2 in (5 cm) above your usual trouser waist size.
For a closer match, lay a belt you already wear flat and measure from where the leather folds at the buckle to the hole you use most, then choose the nearest length. Ratchet and automatic belts have no holes and adjust in small steps.
Leather: wipe with a soft, dry cloth. Once or twice a year, work in a little neutral leather cream, testing it first on a hidden spot. If it gets wet, blot it and let it dry naturally, away from radiators and direct sun. Full-grain leather darkens and softens with use; that patina is part of its character.
Rest a belt between wears where you can, and store it hung by the buckle or loosely rolled.

In 1924, our grandfather, Albert Whitley, opened a small outfitter’s shop in Yorkshire. Our father, Henry, carried it forward. Today, we continue the family business with the same belief: good materials, useful things and pieces made to be worn for years.
