A men's pre-tied bow tie in a fine woven micro-check: reads as a solid colour from afar, for weddings, groomsmen and parties.
It is a classic butterfly shape measuring around 12 cm wide and 6 cm deep, ready-tied on an adjustable band so it can be fitted to most collar sizes in moments.
The colour range is broad, which is what makes it so useful. There are deep tones such as black, navy and two shades of wine red; a bright red, orange and gold; light and deep pinks; bright blue and lake blue; and two whites. For weddings, a set of three is also offered, with one gold and two dark green bow ties, a combination that suits a green and gold colour scheme for the groom and his party.
Made of 100% polyester, it is a practical tie for occasions where several men need to be matched, whether groomsmen, ushers, a choir or a school leavers' dinner. Choose a single colour for the whole group, or give the groom a contrasting shade so he stands slightly apart. It also makes an easy, cheerful addition to a gift for a son or nephew heading to his first formal event, worn with a white shirt and a dark suit.
Fasten the clasp at the back of the collar and slide the adjuster until the band sits flat under the collar without pinching.
A bow tie looks best when it is no wider than the outer corners of your eyes and sits level over the top button. Oversized bows suit a broader face and a spread collar.
Spot clean with cool water and a clean cloth. Wool and velvet-finish bow ties are best dry cleaned.
Store flat or on a tie rack, away from direct sun, so the bow keeps its shape.

Our pieces, out in the real world.
In 1924, our grandfather, Albert Whitley, opened a small outfitter’s shop in Yorkshire. Our father, Henry, carried it forward. Today, we continue the family business with the same belief: good materials, useful things and pieces made to be worn for years.
The counter may now be a website, but the standard remains much the same. Old craft. Modern wear.
It is best not to. Braces do the belt’s job and look tidiest on their own; wearing both adds bulk at the waist. Hook braces clip onto the belt loops themselves, so leave the belt off.
Yes. Braces, bow ties and ties in matching colours make simple groomsmen sets. If you need several identical pieces, write to us before ordering and we will confirm availability.
Ties: once knotted, the tip should just touch your belt buckle; match the blade width to your lapels. Bow ties: most are pre-tied on an adjustable strap that fits most collars. Braces: clip-on styles grip the waistband of any trousers, while hook styles clip onto your belt loops, which suits jeans, chinos and cords. Dimensions are listed under Technical details.
Untie a tie by reversing the knot, then hang it or roll it loosely; knitted ties are best rolled. Store bow ties flat. Coil braces loosely rather than hanging them, so the elastic keeps its spring.
