A men's wine red patterned tie in a dense 1200-needle weave: a rich festive colour for Christmas parties, weddings and the office.
It is warm without being loud, sits comfortably against white and pale blue shirts, and complements navy, grey and charcoal suits alike. This collection takes that single colour as its starting point and offers twenty-five different woven designs, each built on a wine red ground, so a man can find one that suits his taste or a whole wedding party can coordinate without wearing the identical tie.
The patterns range widely: regimental and fine stripes in navy, white, grey and silver; small dots, pin dots and confetti flecks; floral motifs in gold, cream and blue; square medallions and paisleys, both tonal and in navy; a quiet herringbone; and a playful dog motif for the man with a sense of humour. The cloth is a dense 1200-needle polyester weave, cut to a classic width of around 8 cm and a length of about 148 cm.
It is an easy choice for weddings with a burgundy colour scheme, where the groom and groomsmen can each wear a different design from the same family, and it makes a dependable present for Christmas, a birthday or Father's Day. Each tie is measured by hand, so allow a centimetre or two of variation in the stated length.
Once knotted, the tip should just touch the top of your belt buckle. Taller men, or anyone who prefers a larger knot such as a Windsor, will use more of the length.
Match the blade width to your lapels: slimmer ties with narrow lapels, broader ties with classic tailoring. Knitted ties sit best in a simple four-in-hand knot.
Untie by reversing the knot rather than pulling the narrow end through, then hang the tie or roll it loosely so creases fall out overnight.
Spot clean or dry clean; never machine wash. Knitted ties are best rolled rather than hung, so they keep their length.

Our pieces, out in the real world.
In 1924, our grandfather, Albert Whitley, opened a small outfitter’s shop in Yorkshire. Our father, Henry, carried it forward. Today, we continue the family business with the same belief: good materials, useful things and pieces made to be worn for years.
The counter may now be a website, but the standard remains much the same. Old craft. Modern wear.
It is best not to. Braces do the belt’s job and look tidiest on their own; wearing both adds bulk at the waist. Hook braces clip onto the belt loops themselves, so leave the belt off.
Yes. Braces, bow ties and ties in matching colours make simple groomsmen sets. If you need several identical pieces, write to us before ordering and we will confirm availability.
Ties: once knotted, the tip should just touch your belt buckle; match the blade width to your lapels. Bow ties: most are pre-tied on an adjustable strap that fits most collars. Braces: clip-on styles grip the waistband of any trousers, while hook styles clip onto your belt loops, which suits jeans, chinos and cords. Dimensions are listed under Technical details.
Untie a tie by reversing the knot, then hang it or roll it loosely; knitted ties are best rolled. Store bow ties flat. Coil braces loosely rather than hanging them, so the elastic keeps its spring.
