A men's skinny wool blend tie with a matt, textured finish: a winter tie for tweed jackets, flannel suits and the office.
It is woven from a blend of 60% wool and 40% polyester, giving a soft, textured cloth with a matt surface, and is cut slim at around 6 cm wide and 146 cm long, finishing in a classic pointed tip.
There are twelve shades in three families: herringbones in brown and medium grey; flecked weaves in royal blue, orange and pink; and plain cloths in black, light brown, wine red, light grey, light purple, light green and dark grey. The browns and greys suit tweed jackets and flannel trousers through autumn and winter, while the pale greens, pinks and purples bring a lighter touch to linen and cotton in spring.
A wool blend tie makes a thoughtful present for a man who likes his clothes to feel relaxed rather than stiff, and the slim width works with both a button-down collar and a classic spread. Please treat it gently: it should not be washed, bleached, tumble dried, ironed or dry cleaned, so roll it loosely after wearing and keep it away from spills. Pair one of the herringbones with a flat cap in a matching weave for a tidy country look.
Once knotted, the tip should just touch the top of your belt buckle. Taller men, or anyone who prefers a larger knot such as a Windsor, will use more of the length.
Match the blade width to your lapels: slimmer ties with narrow lapels, broader ties with classic tailoring. Knitted ties sit best in a simple four-in-hand knot.
Untie by reversing the knot rather than pulling the narrow end through, then hang the tie or roll it loosely so creases fall out overnight.
Spot clean or dry clean; never machine wash. Knitted ties are best rolled rather than hung, so they keep their length.

Our pieces, out in the real world.
In 1924, our grandfather, Albert Whitley, opened a small outfitter’s shop in Yorkshire. Our father, Henry, carried it forward. Today, we continue the family business with the same belief: good materials, useful things and pieces made to be worn for years.
The counter may now be a website, but the standard remains much the same. Old craft. Modern wear.
It is best not to. Braces do the belt’s job and look tidiest on their own; wearing both adds bulk at the waist. Hook braces clip onto the belt loops themselves, so leave the belt off.
Yes. Braces, bow ties and ties in matching colours make simple groomsmen sets. If you need several identical pieces, write to us before ordering and we will confirm availability.
Ties: once knotted, the tip should just touch your belt buckle; match the blade width to your lapels. Bow ties: most are pre-tied on an adjustable strap that fits most collars. Braces: clip-on styles grip the waistband of any trousers, while hook styles clip onto your belt loops, which suits jeans, chinos and cords. Dimensions are listed under Technical details.
Untie a tie by reversing the knot, then hang it or roll it loosely; knitted ties are best rolled. Store bow ties flat. Coil braces loosely rather than hanging them, so the elastic keeps its spring.
