A men's wool blend bow tie, pre-tied, with a soft textured finish: a country-style bow tie for autumn weddings and winter dinners.
This one is woven from a blend of 60% wool and 40% polyester, giving the cloth a soft, gently textured surface that looks at home with tweed jackets, flannel trousers and heavy cotton shirts rather than sharp evening wear.
Fifteen designs are offered, grouped by texture. There are flecked weaves in navy, orange, coffee, dark grey and medium grey; plain cloths in burgundy, light coffee, dark coffee, dark grey and light purple; herringbones in brown, blue and dark grey; and two checks, one in coffee and one in grey with a blue overcheck. The bow measures around 12 cm wide and 6 cm high, a classic medium size that suits most collars.
It comes ready-tied on an adjustable band, so it can be put on in a moment and sits straight all evening. For groomsmen, choose one shade throughout, or let each man pick his own from the same family of browns and greys, perhaps with a flat cap in a matching herringbone. It should not be washed, bleached, tumble dried, ironed or dry cleaned, so store it flat and keep it away from spills.
Fasten the clasp at the back of the collar and slide the adjuster until the band sits flat under the collar without pinching.
A bow tie looks best when it is no wider than the outer corners of your eyes and sits level over the top button. Oversized bows suit a broader face and a spread collar.
Spot clean with cool water and a clean cloth. Wool and velvet-finish bow ties are best dry cleaned.
Store flat or on a tie rack, away from direct sun, so the bow keeps its shape.

Our pieces, out in the real world.
In 1924, our grandfather, Albert Whitley, opened a small outfitter’s shop in Yorkshire. Our father, Henry, carried it forward. Today, we continue the family business with the same belief: good materials, useful things and pieces made to be worn for years.
The counter may now be a website, but the standard remains much the same. Old craft. Modern wear.
It is best not to. Braces do the belt’s job and look tidiest on their own; wearing both adds bulk at the waist. Hook braces clip onto the belt loops themselves, so leave the belt off.
Yes. Braces, bow ties and ties in matching colours make simple groomsmen sets. If you need several identical pieces, write to us before ordering and we will confirm availability.
Ties: once knotted, the tip should just touch your belt buckle; match the blade width to your lapels. Bow ties: most are pre-tied on an adjustable strap that fits most collars. Braces: clip-on styles grip the waistband of any trousers, while hook styles clip onto your belt loops, which suits jeans, chinos and cords. Dimensions are listed under Technical details.
Untie a tie by reversing the knot, then hang it or roll it loosely; knitted ties are best rolled. Store bow ties flat. Coil braces loosely rather than hanging them, so the elastic keeps its spring.
