Men's fingerless gloves in a long rib knit: keep the hands warm and the fingers free for phones, tools and cold mornings.
Turning the pages of a newspaper on a cold platform, working a phone on the walk to the office, tying flies on the riverbank or finding keys at the front door all go more smoothly when the fingertips are left uncovered. These fingerless gloves are made for exactly that kind of day, keeping the palm and the back of the hand covered while leaving each finger open.
They are knitted from 100% acrylic in a close, stretchy rib that hugs the hand without pinching, and the long ribbed cuff tucks neatly under a coat sleeve to keep the draught away from the wrist. Four plain colours are offered: black, a dusky slate grey, a soft olive green and a deep claret red. Each is quiet enough to sit alongside a waxed jacket or an overcoat, and they pair naturally with a flat cap or newsboy cap in a matching tone for a tidy, practical winter look.
They also make a modest, useful present for the man who is always outdoors or who simply feels the cold, whether a father who walks the dog at dawn or a son who cycles to work. Knitted in a single size with plenty of give, they spare you from guessing his glove size, and they fold small enough to live in a coat pocket from October until spring.
Measure around your dominant hand at the widest part of the palm, just below the knuckles and without the thumb. Compare that with the palm width in Technical details: a glove measured flat is roughly half its circumference.
Leather gloves feel snug at first and ease slightly with wear; knitted gloves have natural stretch. If you are between sizes, write to us and we will tell you honestly which will suit.
Leather: dry clean only. If they get wet, let them dry naturally at room temperature, never on a radiator, then flex the fingers gently.
Knitted & wool: hand wash cool with a wool detergent, press dry in a towel and dry flat.

Our pieces, out in the real world.
In 1924, our grandfather, Albert Whitley, opened a small outfitter’s shop in Yorkshire. Our father, Henry, carried it forward. Today, we continue the family business with the same belief: good materials, useful things and pieces made to be worn for years.
The counter may now be a website, but the standard remains much the same. Old craft. Modern wear.
Pairs with touchscreen fingertips say so in the product name and under Technical details. If it is not mentioned, assume they do not.
Yes. Pair any scarf with gloves or a cap and save 10% when you buy two or more pieces. If you would rather not choose, our winter sets match a hat, scarf and gloves in one colour.
Scarves and the pieces in our winter sets are one size, and knitted pieces stretch to fit most adults. For gloves, measure around the widest part of your palm and compare it with the measurements in Technical details. If you are unsure, write to us before ordering.
Hand wash knitted and wool pieces cool and dry them flat; never wring or tumble dry. Leather gloves are dry clean only and should always dry naturally, away from heat. Where Technical details gives a care line, follow that first.
