A plain knitted men's scarf, described by the maker as 100% cashmere: soft, light and warm, and a considered Christmas gift for him.
This one is knitted from 100% cashmere into a soft, close-textured length that drapes easily and folds neatly at the collar, with plain edges and no fringe to distract from the yarn itself. It is light enough to wear all day indoors and out, yet warm enough for cold station platforms and frosty morning walks.
The colour range is drawn from the classic gentleman's wardrobe: camel tan, oatmeal beige, charcoal grey, black, claret red and emerald green. The neutrals sit comfortably against navy, charcoal and tweed overcoats, while claret and emerald bring a measured note of colour to a dark suit or a country jacket. Loop it once around the neck, tie a simple Parisian knot, or let it hang loose beneath an open coat.
Paired with a wool flat cap or newsboy cap, it completes a traditional cold-weather look that suits the office, the weekend and a day at the races alike. It also makes a considered gift for a husband, father or son who appreciates natural fibres and understated dressing. As with any cashmere, it rewards gentle handling and tends to feel softer the more it is worn. It is a scarf to keep for many winters.
One size. Exact length and width for this design are listed under Technical details.
Longer scarves take a Parisian knot or a double loop comfortably; shorter ones sit best draped once and crossed under a coat collar.
Polyester & acrylic scarves: hand wash cool or use a gentle cycle in a wash bag, then dry flat; a cool iron under a cloth smooths any creases.
Wool & cashmere scarves: hand wash cool with a wool detergent, or dry clean. Press the water out in a towel and dry flat; never wring or tumble dry.

Our pieces, out in the real world.
In 1924, our grandfather, Albert Whitley, opened a small outfitter’s shop in Yorkshire. Our father, Henry, carried it forward. Today, we continue the family business with the same belief: good materials, useful things and pieces made to be worn for years.
The counter may now be a website, but the standard remains much the same. Old craft. Modern wear.

Yes. Pair any scarf with gloves or a cap and save 10% when you buy two or more pieces. If you would rather not choose, our winter sets match a hat, scarf and gloves in one colour.
Scarves and the pieces in our winter sets are one size, and knitted pieces stretch to fit most adults. For gloves, measure around the widest part of your palm and compare it with the measurements in Technical details. If you are unsure, write to us before ordering.
Hand wash knitted and wool pieces cool and dry them flat; never wring or tumble dry. Leather gloves are dry clean only and should always dry naturally, away from heat. Where Technical details gives a care line, follow that first.
