A men's glen check scarf with fringed ends, long enough to wrap twice: a classic winter scarf for coats and tweed jackets.
Although the supplier lists it under a houndstooth name, the pattern in the photographs is closer to a traditional glen check: fine crossing lines over a muted ground, with a thin accent stripe running through some colourways. It is the kind of pattern that has sat comfortably alongside tweed jackets and overcoats for generations, and it looks equally at home over a navy suit as over a knitted jumper.
The scarf is woven in 100% polyester using a jacquard technique, which gives the check its crisp definition and keeps the weight to around 120 g. It measures approximately 195 cm by 35 cm, long enough to loop once around the neck with the ends hanging, or to wrap twice on a colder morning. Care is simple: hand wash, or have it professionally dry cleaned.
Four colourways are offered: charcoal grey with a fine red line, navy and tan check, camel tan check, and black and white. Pair the camel tan or the black and white with a brown tweed flat cap for a country look, or the navy or charcoal with a charcoal newsboy cap in town. A considered gift that suits most wardrobes, and one that needs no knowledge of his size.
One size. Exact length and width for this design are listed under Technical details.
Longer scarves take a Parisian knot or a double loop comfortably; shorter ones sit best draped once and crossed under a coat collar.
Polyester & acrylic scarves: hand wash cool or use a gentle cycle in a wash bag, then dry flat; a cool iron under a cloth smooths any creases.
Wool & cashmere scarves: hand wash cool with a wool detergent, or dry clean. Press the water out in a towel and dry flat; never wring or tumble dry.

Our pieces, out in the real world.
In 1924, our grandfather, Albert Whitley, opened a small outfitter’s shop in Yorkshire. Our father, Henry, carried it forward. Today, we continue the family business with the same belief: good materials, useful things and pieces made to be worn for years.
The counter may now be a website, but the standard remains much the same. Old craft. Modern wear.

Yes. Pair any scarf with gloves or a cap and save 10% when you buy two or more pieces. If you would rather not choose, our winter sets match a hat, scarf and gloves in one colour.
Scarves and the pieces in our winter sets are one size, and knitted pieces stretch to fit most adults. For gloves, measure around the widest part of your palm and compare it with the measurements in Technical details. If you are unsure, write to us before ordering.
Hand wash knitted and wool pieces cool and dry them flat; never wring or tumble dry. Leather gloves are dry clean only and should always dry naturally, away from heat. Where Technical details gives a care line, follow that first.
