A men's herringbone scarf with short fringed ends, the classic British pattern that pairs naturally with a herringbone flat cap.
Here it is woven across the full length of a scarf in two quiet tones, so it reads as plain from a distance and reveals its texture up close. It is the definition of understated: never out of place, never out of fashion.
The scarf is woven from 100% polyester with a soft, smooth handle and a short fringe at each end. It measures 180 cm long and 30 cm wide, a sensible length for a single loop under a coat collar or a loose drape over a jacket. Two colourways are offered: a light grey herringbone that suits navy and camel coats, and a darker charcoal herringbone for charcoal and black tailoring.
Worn with a herringbone or tweed flat cap it creates a coordinated, traditional look that suits the office, the station platform or a winter weekend in the country. It is a dependable gift for a father, husband or colleague who dresses classically. Hand wash or have it professionally dry cleaned to keep the weave looking crisp and the colour true for years to come.
One size. Exact length and width for this design are listed under Technical details.
Longer scarves take a Parisian knot or a double loop comfortably; shorter ones sit best draped once and crossed under a coat collar.
Polyester & acrylic scarves: hand wash cool or use a gentle cycle in a wash bag, then dry flat; a cool iron under a cloth smooths any creases.
Wool & cashmere scarves: hand wash cool with a wool detergent, or dry clean. Press the water out in a towel and dry flat; never wring or tumble dry.

Our pieces, out in the real world.
In 1924, our grandfather, Albert Whitley, opened a small outfitter’s shop in Yorkshire. Our father, Henry, carried it forward. Today, we continue the family business with the same belief: good materials, useful things and pieces made to be worn for years.
The counter may now be a website, but the standard remains much the same. Old craft. Modern wear.

Yes. Pair any scarf with gloves or a cap and save 10% when you buy two or more pieces. If you would rather not choose, our winter sets match a hat, scarf and gloves in one colour.
Scarves and the pieces in our winter sets are one size, and knitted pieces stretch to fit most adults. For gloves, measure around the widest part of your palm and compare it with the measurements in Technical details. If you are unsure, write to us before ordering.
Hand wash knitted and wool pieces cool and dry them flat; never wring or tumble dry. Leather gloves are dry clean only and should always dry naturally, away from heat. Where Technical details gives a care line, follow that first.
